Steps to Make Shortcakes

1. The Struggle is Real:

Chef Amina, juggling her busy schedule and a love for perfection, begins with an early start. Despite her tiredness, she carefully organizes her workspace, delegating tasks to her team to manage the large quantity.

2. Mixing the Dough:

In large mixing bowls, she combines flour, sugar, and baking powder.

She incorporates cold butter, rubbing it into the dry ingredients until it resembles coarse crumbs.

3. Adding Liquids:

Eggs, milk, and vanilla extract are whisked together and gradually added to the dry mixture.

Despite her fatigue, Chef Amina ensures the dough is mixed just enough to bring it together without overworking.

4. Cutting and Baking:

The dough is rolled out on floured surfaces and cut into even rounds using a large biscuit cutter.

The rounds are placed on baking sheets and baked in preheated ovens at 200°C (400°F) for about 15–20 minutes, until golden brown.

5. Assembling the Shortcakes:

Once cooled, each shortcake is sliced in half.

Chef Amina spreads freshly whipped cream and layers sliced strawberries between the halves.

The top is garnished with more cream and strawberries for a stunning finish.

6. Enjoying the Process:

Though exhausted, Chef Amina laughs with her team, sneaking tastes of the sweet strawberries and cream. The lively energy in the kitchen helps her push through, making the process enjoyable despite the challenges.
