Ingredients (Serves 4-6):
Fresh ginger root: 200g (about 2 medium-sized roots)
Water: 1.5 liters
Lemon: 2 medium-sized (for juice)
Honey or sugar: 4-6 tablespoons (adjust to taste)
Pineapple (optional): 1 cup, chopped (for extra flavor)
Mint leaves (optional): for garnish
Step-by-Step Preparation Instructions for Ginger Drink
1. Prepare the Ingredients:
Wash and peel the ginger root. Slice it into smaller pieces for easy blending.
Squeeze the juice from the lemons and set it aside. If using pineapple, chop it into small pieces.
2. Blend the Ginger:
Add the sliced ginger to a blender along with 1 liter of water. Blend until smooth. If using pineapple, add it to the blender at this stage.
3. Strain the Mixture:
Pour the blended ginger mixture through a fine mesh sieve or a clean cheesecloth into a large bowl or pitcher. Press down to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the ginger pulp.
4. Sweeten and Flavor:
Add honey or sugar to the strained ginger juice, stirring until fully dissolved. Adjust the sweetness to your liking.
5. Add Lemon Juice:
Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice. Add an extra 500ml of water to dilute the drink if the ginger flavor is too strong.
6. Chill and Serve:
Transfer the ginger drink to a jug or bottles and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Serve chilled over ice for a refreshing experience. Garnish with mint leaves if desired.
