Chef Amina's Morning Delight
It was a bright and cheerful morning, and Chef Amina woke up with a spring in her step. The smell of dew from her garden wafted in through the open window, and she felt an idea brewing in her mind. “Today calls for something simple yet delightful,” she thought to herself, her face lighting up with excitement. “Custard with bread! What could be better to start the day?”
Dressed in her crisp apron and with a joyful hum, Amina set out her ingredients on the counter:
3 tablespoons of custard powder
1 tablespoon of sugar (adjust to taste)
2 cups of water
A splash of evaporated milk
Freshly baked bread slices
Her hands moved with practiced precision as she mixed the custard powder with a quarter cup of water in a bowl, forming a smooth paste. She boiled 1¾ cups of water in a small pot, watching the tiny bubbles dance at the surface. With a confident smile, she poured the custard paste into the boiling water, stirring continuously. The mixture thickened to a silky golden consistency, and Amina could hardly contain her excitement.
“Perfect!” she exclaimed, pouring the custard into a bowl. She added a dash of milk for creaminess and a sprinkle of sugar for sweetness. Meanwhile, she arranged slices of fluffy bread on a plate, cutting one into tiny squares to dip into the warm custard.
As she sat at her breakfast table, basking in the morning sunlight, Amina took her first bite. Her eyes sparkled with satisfaction, and a warm smile spread across her face. “Sometimes, the simplest meals bring the most joy,” she whispered to herself.
